The realization of technically feasible concepts in its most extreme form (1001 HP, more than 400 km/h fast and as reliable as a VW Golf) – for many the true capturing of a senseless thought. The Veyron is the undisputed highlight in the petrol age, a benchmark, which can not be overcome and embedded on its base, is the name of the Volkswagen sun-god Ferdinand Piëch.
The special thrill of the Grand Sport is the unfiltered experience of monstrosity which is underlined by a turbo charged eight litre sixteen cylinder engine. Like the maestro of an orchestra, does the driver conduct the concentrated engine ravage close to his back; instructed by the gas pedal, the turbo chargers snuffle and fizzle and when the two collectors, which sit on top of the driver and passenger seat, take a deep breath, it seems as if close by located clocks and watches come to a hold. No screaming and roaring is necessary as it is tradition with the Italian makers. The acceleration which then comes into place seems as if someone is pulling once blood out of his toes and the toes start to prickle; this is known from the roller coaster at the Vienna Prater, but has been unknown for a car.
The Grand Sport does not drive like a monster. The seven speed DSG coordinates the gear speed with comfort and a Mini Cooper with sports package has a fiercer suspension. Not pushing the pedal to the metal, if the drive way is not clear or the curve is getting to steep, also holds for other cars. This is a civilised car, as it is communicated by Bugatti – to a certain extent a real Volkswagen.
